William Garton – Practice Principal
– East Midlands

Will founded Avivets in 2016 after leaving a veterinary practice that became part of a large corporate organisation, and experiencing the differences between independent and corporate practice. He has been passionate about providing independent veterinary care ever since and could see the need for this in commercial poultry production. Will graduated from University of Nottingham in 2014 and has since gained post graduate certificates in Agrifood (poultry production) from Harper Adams University and Veterinary Business Management from University of Liverpool. In 2020, Will was awarded Young Poultry Vet of the Year.

After graduating from the University of Bristol in 2021, Beth began her career in poultry veterinary medicine. She joined Avivets in December 2022, allowing the practice to expand further into the West Midlands. Beth is completing her post-graduate Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Medicine (CertAVP), specialising in poultry, to further her knowledge and provide expert care and advice to clients. Beth is passionate about providing high-quality, tailored services to independent clients, helping them achieve better performance and results on farm.

Beth remains busy and active outside of work. She starts her days with CrossFit training, competing in events on weekends. Beth also enjoys long walks with her Labrador, Digby. She often arrives at the gym or practice with homemade goods or fresh veg grown in her garden. In the winter months, Beth spends time game shooting and is a member of her local shoot.

Elena Calin – Lead Vet
– North West

Elena graduated from the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest in 2016. Before joining Avivets in November 2023, she worked for five years as Lead Official Veterinarian with the Food Standards Agency on a large poultry site in Shropshire, overseeing a team of other veterinarians and meat hygiene inspectors. My role covered all stages from bird arrival to despatch, as well as export certification and compliance with ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 standards.

At Avivets, Elena leads our North West branch in Pickmere, Cheshire, working with broilers, layers, and game birds. Her work ranges from post-mortem examinations, in-house bacteriology, water testing, and microscopy, to biosecurity visits, health plan renewals, and client support. Elena also provides expert input when high rejection rates or trigger reports are identified as birds are processed.

Outside of work, Elena enjoys long walks, caring for her indoor plants, and keeping her home organised. Writing poetry is a hidden passion that brings Elena both joy and creative escape, and she also has a strong interest in psychology, human behaviour, and childhood development.
